چکیده
Five years of application-driven research taught us that there is a close connection between multiagent systems and software architecture. In this paper, we give an overview of a reference architecture for situated multiagent systems we have developed during our research. The reference architecture generalizes common functions and structures from various applications we have studied and built. It provides a blueprint to develop new multiagent system applications with similar characteristics and requirements as the systems from which the reference architecture was derived. The reference architecture enables to integrate multiagent systems in mainstream software engineering. We believe that this integration is a key to industrial adoption of multiagent systems.

The FOAL workshop in its tenth edition continues to attract foundational work on aspect-oriented software development. As in previous years, we were pleased to assemble yet another outstanding program committee for FOAL 2011. The members of the program committee were: • Hridesh Rajan — Program Committee Chair, Iowa State University, USA • Werner M. Dietl — University of Washington • Juergen Din...

Abstract We view an evolutionary system as being a software product line. The core architecture is the unchanging part of the system, and each version of the system may be viewed as a product from the product line. Each ”product” may be described as the core architecture with some agent-based additions. The result is a multiagent system software product line. We describe an approach to such a S...

This paper reports the recent experiences of four different instructors in teaching graduate-level software engineering courses using UML. Due to different backgrounds of the instructors, the courses were organized and taught using different textbooks and with different focuses. The experiences are organized from several different perspectives: the role and issues of UML in object-oriented mode...

We introduce gtTAL, a graphical tool implemented on top of a distributed multilayer architecture which is specifically suitable for multiple-antenna hardware testbeds. gtTAL helps in teaching digital communications by allowing interaction with the hardware testbed at an abstraction level suitable for undergraduate students. Instead of using the low-level interfaces provided by hardware manufact...
